Hi! Who am I? I’m a Christian, a parent, a grandparent, great grandparent. I’m a retired teacher, a quilter, and a dancer. I was born in 1946. My parents were long-lived and I have five siblings and an extended family. I was born in Albany at Maple Hill Hospital but have lived in Kansas, Pennsylvania, California and Texas. My background is in science with degrees in Biology and Education. I worked at Eagle Pass Cheese Company before teaching biology, microbiology, French, and several other subjects.
I remember when Eisenhower was president, when John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, and Robert Kennedy were assassinated. I remember Vietnam, the Iraq War, and the fall of the Twin Towers. I remember the “Space Race” and “one giant leap for mankind”. I remember the death of Elvis.
I first danced at the age of 5, in kindergarten (Wichata) when a music teacher introduced us to tap and ballet. I took modern dance and 17th Century Dance classes at Berea but fell in love with line dancing and clogging in the 90’s. First teachers were Nita Sweat, Carson Lewis, Judy and Ed Ramey and Laura Ann Lowhorn.
When TLFWC opened, I took jazzercise class with Bobbi Gervin and we added line dancing on Friday mornings after class. I have had many wonderful students and classes are now offered four afternoons per week with my former students, Connie Armstrong and Wendy Holden teaching.
You don’t quit dancing when you get old, you get old when you quit dancing!

My name is Connie Armstrong. I am a retired teacher and a mother of two children and one grandchild. I am one of three teachers who teach line dance class at Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center. I teach on Mondays and Thursdays at 5:00 pm. Line Dance is a fun exercise for all ages. The TLFWC Borderline Dancers have evolved from the line dance classes. We have performed at several nursing homes, community centers, and festivals etc in the surrounding counties.

After a day of line dancing with a wonderful group of individuals one must hydrate! 😊
Hi, my name is Wendy Holden! I am thrilled to teach both Beginner and Advanced Line Dancing along with two fabulous instructors here at the Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center. I am currently on the Board of Directors here at the center and blessed to be part of such a heartfelt organization.
I have lived North, South, East and West in this beautiful country of ours, based on a military family and a corporate job for over 25 years. My husband Joe and I love the rural environment and are proud to call the rolling hills of Kentucky home. I am an artist at heart, with a passion for people and have a growing family with two married stepsons that live in Austin, TX.
Let’s have some fun and get fit together!
